You Said, We Did - How Delivery Partner feedback has improved the Early Career Framework

We work in close partnership with our Delivery Partners (DPs) to ensure that programme improvements are closely aligned with both their needs and those of the schools they serve. Feedback is consistently gathered through regular one-on-one meetings, surveys, advisory board sessions, and ongoing partner engagement.

In this article, we highlight the continuous enhancements made to our Early Career Framework (ECF) over the academic year 2024/25 and the vital role our partnerships play in shaping these improvements. Below, we outline some of the key advancements to our ECF programme that we have implemented so far.
“The Best Practice Networks' Early Career Framework Programme offers outstanding support to Early Career Teachers, equipping them with the tools, guidance, and mentorship to thrive in their roles. The programme is designed to foster professional growth, ensuring teachers develop the necessary skills for long-term success in the classroom impacting on the outcomes of their learners. Collaboration with delivery partners is exceptional, with a strong focus on tailored, evidence-based support. These partnerships enhance the programme’s impact, ensuring that teachers receive high-quality, relevant training and continuous professional development. Through close cooperation, listening and acting on feedback, BPN and its delivery partners empower educators to reach their full potential.”

Partners asked for more Face-to-Face engagement, including an annual partnerships celebratory event, partner-led Induction conferences and teaching school hub visits.

What BPN did...

We held a Partnership Conference in Birmingham in June, which brought together 100 representatives from our Delivery Partners. The speakers covered a range of topics, from AI in education to measuring the impact of NPQs and SEND provision in mainstream schools. It was a space for our DPs to present their projects, network, and celebrate everything we have achieved together over the past year. Due to its success, this will now be an annual event.

Delivery Partners are now able to run both year 1 and year 2 induction training events. Facilitator training has taken place in preparation for this. Delivery Partner-run induction events are extremely well-received and improve participant buy-in to the programme from the outset.

From April 24 onwards, the Partnerships Team have been out on the road visiting our Teaching School Hub partners. These visits have been an opportunity to discuss what is working well and gather feedback and ideas for enhancing what we do, reinforcing our culture of openness and collaboration. During the visits we dropped in on NPQ and ECF events, met with ECTs, Mentors, Induction Tutors, NPQ Participants and School Leaders. We also recorded interviews with participants for our DPs to use in the promotion of ECF in their regions. We will extend these visits to include all ECF Delivery Partners in academic year 2024/25, reinforcing our relationships.

Materials that offer more opportunities for diversification and contextualisation, with greater ownership for Delivery Partners. Adding research relevant to each slide for the ECF events and continue to build case studies for each phase.

What BPN did...

Delivery Partner school networks have been involved in the development of a huge range of additional materials to diversify and contextualise the programme including SEND, phase and subject specific podcasts, case studies and research pieces.

School partners are heavily involved in cases studies and active research being carried out. We offer a extensive collection of case studies, which each candidate has access to on their Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). For all regional training events where case studies were written to specific phases, there is now a choice of primary or secondary case studies to further support contextualisation.

Collaboration with stakeholders such as The National Literacy Trust and language programme Makaton to further contextualise programme content and offer ECTs and mentors additional opportunities to develop their professional skills.

"Engagement with external agencies has enhanced the ECF programme. The National Literacy Trust delivered webinars with a focus on oracy for both primary and secondary colleagues. In addition, ECTs have been invited to attend additional training to support SEND in their classroom with a Makaton trainer facilitating an introductory session. Feedback from these events was extremely positive and highlighted the impact of the session on the participant's practice."
Chris Randall Facilitator Lead for Mentors

"Well sequenced programme with good content and reflection elements which supports ECTs development. Delivery partner newsletters are helpful and keep them updated on upcoming events. Partnership managers support Delivery Partners well and the new preliminary grouping facility helped speed up grouping."
