Cornwall Council has agreed to fund all of the apprenticeships on this page for staff working in Cornish maintained schools and early years settings.

 

How do I apply?

When you find the apprenticeship that is right for you, click the Apply Now button then follow these easy steps:

  • If you haven't completed one of our courses before you will need to create a new account
  • After you have created your account, log in and complete the application form
  • When you get to the section titled "Engagement Route" please ensure you select Cornwall Council from the dropdown. This will ensure that we are able to quickly fund your apprenticeship through the Cornwall Council Apprenticeship Levy account

 

Leader Apprenticeships with NPQs

These apprenticeships are dual awards meaning they lead to both a National Professional Qualification (NPQ) and and apprenticeship standard. Choose to complete NPQSL, NPQH or NPQEL pathways without incurring any costs thanks to funding from the Cornwall Council Apprenticeship Levy.


 


Funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, these programmes are designed for aspiring or recently appointed leaders and headteachers.

Become a teacher in Cornwall with the Teacher Apprenticeship

If you're a TA, a cover supervisor, an unqualified teacher or any other kind of support staff who would like to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) then this apprenticeship is for you!

The Teacher Apprenticeship is available for primary, primary SEND and secondary schools. A fee-free, salaried route for graduates awarding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 12 months.

Apprenticeships for Teaching Assistants in Cornwall

The following apprenticeships are perfect for ambitious teaching assistants. Drawing from the latest research, these programmes will equip you with all the skills and knowledge needed to support teachers. Specialist pathways are available for those TAs looking to focus on particular areas of school life.

Teacher Assistant (TA) Apprenticeship Level 3 is ideal for anyone already working as a TA, or looking for a career as a TA.

Early Years Apprenticeships

Cornwall Council has agreed to fund the following apprenticeships for early years practitioners in its maintained nurseries in Cornwall

  • Entry level apprenticeship with no previous qualifications needed
  • 14-month programme
  • Three main themes including; health and wellbeing, support care routine for babies and young children and equality, diversity, inclusive practice and SEND.

  • Requires English and maths GCSE grade C (4) or above or equivalent
  • 18-month programme which counts towards EYFS level 3 staff:child ratios
  •  Works on themes from Level 2 in addition with; legislation, framework and practice, play, development and learning for school readiness and speech, language and communication needs

EYLP Level 5
  • Requires level 3 completion or equivalent as well as English and maths GCSEs grade C (4) or above
  • 24-month programme
  • Structured around promoting and implementing themes from levels 2 and 3, as well as leading practice, child development, observation and planning.

Playworker Level 2
  • Ideal for private, voluntary and independent settings that work with children of any age but don't follow the EYFS curriculum
  • 15-17 month programme
  • 10 core modules with 5 optional units to build confident playworkers over different models of play
