Best Practice Network has been supporting the development and training of Teaching Assistants for nearly 21 years.

Our TA Development Pathway provides training options for all TAs, from new starters to experienced practitioners.

Our programmes draw from the latest research, and our experienced facilitators & tutors are passionate about delivering first class support.

Research shows that supporting staff development makes them less likely to leave their jobs and more likely to have a positive impact on pupil outcomes.

With Apprenticeship Levy funding available for both of our apprenticeships, our Teaching Assistant Development Pathway really is worth the trip!

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Status

HLTA Status is awarded to TAs who complete the programme by demonstrating that they meet the national HLTA standards. The big difference between TAs and HLTAs is the increased amount of responsibility. If your TAs complete HLTA they can:

  • Teach classes on their own
  • Cover teacher absences
