Do you give your HLTA enough recognition? You definitely should!

Why are HLTAs so amazing?

  • They can lead a whole class during the teacher’s absence
  • They support everyone in the classroom
  • They help learners reach their potential and raise teaching standards.

Their role is crucial yet underrated. It is time to change this. It is time to say "thank you"!

Celebrate the HLTA's commitment to every class and every student

We would like to invite you to recognise the great work of your HLTA by nominating them to the Best Practice Network HLTA of the Year Award 2022

The Best Practice Network HLTA of the Year Award for 2022 is a recognition of all the hard work and commitment of the HLTAs in England. Every school employee can nominate their exceptional HLTA and give them a chance to win the title of the HLTA of the Year, a named trophy and a certificate.

We are accepting nominations in three categories:

Nominate your HLTA

There can be only three national winners but we believe that every HLTA deserves to be celebrated! Therefore, every nominee will receive a named certificate from BPN to recognise the fact that their school has nominated them for the award.

Four steps to nominate for the HLTA of the Year Awards

  1. Recognise the extraordinary work of your HLTA and get your headteacher’s approval

  2. Nominate your HLTA by the 14th of November

  3. We confirm the nomination with your headteacher (their endorsement to be submitted by the 21st of November)

  4. The winners will be officially announced on the 15th of December

How are the winners decided?

All submissions will be scored by our CPD and Accreditation Director, Dean Boyce and our HLTA Lead Tutor, Nick Thornber. They will pick the nominees in each category who had the biggest impact on pupils’ lives and relieved pressure on teachers.

Must a nominated HLTA have gained their HLTA status with Best Practice Network?

No, not at all. The award is a recognition of HLTAs role in the classroom and school, regardless of how or with whom they achieved their status. So, think about every time your HLTA went the extra mile to make the classroom work and nominate them by 14th of November.
