Eye to Eye Walk - Maureen Lee

Our Early Years Director Maureen Lee completed the 14 mile Eye to Eye charity walk on March 22nd. This event involved walking from Moorfields Eye hospital to the London Eye.

This walk was the first event for the charity with over 500 staff, patients and supporters attending to raise awareness and money for the hospital.

The route was very scenic and ran along the Regent Canal tow paths through Islington and Camden Town to Regents Park. Then on through the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, Little Venice and across Hyde Park and past a procession of landmarks including Constitution Hall and Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall. The walk continued on past Downing Street and the Cenotaph, past Westminster Abbey, across the Thames and back, then over the Hungerford Bridge to the finish point on the riverbank.

Maureen enjoyed the walk and made it to the finishing point at the London Eye in four and a quarter hours not including stops and road crossing hold ups. Maureen’s highlights were the interesting route, her fellow walkers and the excellent organisation and care from the organiser, Discover Adventure. Maureen raised £215.

The Big Sleep Out - Chris Ludlow

Our Leadership Curriculum Programmes Manager Chris Ludlow has also recently partaken in a charitable event – The Big Sleep Out Bristol.

The Big Issue joined up with other homeless organisations in Bristol for this event to highlight the reality of homelessness in Bristol.

Although not a complete homeless experience, it gave an insight into what it might be like without a home and having to rely mainly on the support of others. Chris' sleep out raised £100.
