Headteacher Performance Management

Our fully accredited and experienced School Improvement Advisers will visit your school termly to look in detail at the school’s headship. We will work with you to provide an external perspective on the headteachers’ performance, and document identified strengths and areas for development.


Who is this for?

All schools need to undertake the performance management of the headteacher. With regards to this:

  • What is the best way to undertake this key task?
  • How can you engage an excellent external partner to support the governing body?

Best Practice Network provides support for the whole process of headteacher performance management. Only fully accredited and experienced School Improvement Advisers from Best Practice Network undertake this work.

This programme will support governors who are looking to continue to make improvements in the outcomes for all the children and young people in the school. The School Improvement Adviser will assist governing bodies operating in a climate of reducing budgets, increased accountability and changing national expectations.

What are the benefits?

The programme will:

  • embrace the full cycle of performance management

How is it delivered?

The core package includes a minimum of two visits to the school as well as preparation time. The initial meeting will normally involve reviewing last year’s objectives and agreeing next year’s objectives, performance is reviewed against agreed objectives at the second meeting.
